From January to September 2024, the Federal Police of the Federal Republic of Germany detained 7,783 persons subject to arrest warrants, including international arrest warrants. These are, in particular, offenders who have not paid fines, as well as persons who have committed serious offences and evaded prison.
According to Bild, the most cases of refusal of entry to Germany were recorded on the country’s border with Switzerland (9113 people), Poland (7862), Austria (5468) and France (2350).
Ukrainians (5,935), Syrians (4,708) and Afghans (2,396) were most often refused entry. At the same time, police officers identified more than 1,480 people deported from Germany who attempted to enter the country again.
‘The police are talking about unauthorised entry into the country when a foreigner who does not have a valid residence permit in Germany wants to cross the border,’ dpa specified. – Refusal of entry is possible above all if the person does not express a wish for asylum or if he or she is subject to a temporary entry ban. This applies to people who have previously been deported or people from so-called ‘safe countries of origin’ whose asylum application has previously been rejected as ‘manifestly unfounded.’
Against the background of the border controls currently in place at all borders of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Federal Police recorded 53,410 attempts to enter the country unauthorisedly between January and September 2024. At the same time, 28,321 people were refused entry into Germany.
In the course of document checks at the external borders of the Federal Republic of Germany since the beginning of the year, 1,195 persons involved in the illegal transfer of people were detained and 1,088 attempts of such smuggling were stopped. At the same time, the police noted that the available statistics do not take into account attempts of unauthorised entry into Germany by air or sea, so the figures can still be adjusted.
