The first volunteers of the Ukrainian Legion signed contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a recruiting center opened at the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin, Poland.

More than 600 people have applied for membership, Ukrinform reports.

A week ago, it was reported that more than 500 volunteers from 30 countries had applied to the Legion, most of them from Poland and the Czech Republic.

The recruiting center noted that volunteers can sign a contract for three years or until the end of the war, after which they will be sent to training grounds in Poland for training.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after signing a bilateral security agreement with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, announced an agreement with Poland to form a volunteer military unit of Ukrainians staying in the EU. The Ukrainian Legion will be trained in Poland and provided with the necessary equipment by its partners.
