On the night of 6 April, as a result of a Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv, the buildings that housed the editorial offices of the state-owned Multimedia Broadcasting Platform of Ukraine (MIPU) after the 12 February attack were heavily damaged.
In particular, the editorial offices of FREEDOM, Dim, UATV English, The Gaze, UATV Español, UATV Arabic, UATV Português, the digital editorial office and service departments were affected. The company’s employees were not injured, according to FREEDOM.
The strike destroyed FREEDOM’s new newsroom, as well as the building where the renovated studio was being built after the previous attack. The channel is currently broadcasting from a backup studio. The international broadcasting offices, broadcasting equipment, office and digital premises were also damaged.
The top three floors of the business centre, where the foreign broadcasting channels were located, were destroyed and a large crater was created nearby. The lower floors were also heavily damaged and unusable.
As previously reported, on 12 February, the Russian attack had already caused serious damage to the editorial and studio premises of the State Enterprise ‘MPIU’.
