On the night of 31 December, Russian troops destroyed two DTEK energy facilities that supply part of the Primorsky and Khadzhibey districts of Odesa. Some consumers have already been reconnected, but full restoration of power supply is not yet technically possible.

This was reported by DTEK Odesa Power Grids.

After the shelling on New Year’s Eve, fires broke out at the substations, which were extinguished by rescuers. After that, power engineers began restoration work and worked continuously, including on New Year’s Eve.

Specialists cleared the debris and inspected the equipment. The necessary spare parts were ordered, some of which were taken from reserves or transported from other substations. An agreement was also reached on humanitarian aid from fellow energy workers and the Ministry of Energy.

‘Over the past three days, we have managed to partially restore power to customers. However, it is not technically possible to turn on all homes at the same time. To restore power, we are creating temporary repair schemes: laying additional cable and overhead lines, installing couplings, and working on distribution devices,’ the statement said.

In the Odesa region, rolling blackouts are not being implemented. At the same time, in the Odesa district, particularly in Odesa, emergency power cuts are possible due to a sharp increase in consumption in order to avoid overloading damaged equipment.
