Drone strike hits central Druzhkivka: at least five injured in Donetsk region

The centre of Druzhkivka, a front-line city in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, came under a massive drone attack on August 2. A market, shopping centre, residential buildings and a car park were reportedly hit. Local authorities say at least five people were injured.

Market, shop, and administrative building damaged

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, confirmed the drone strike damaged two residential buildings, a market, a shop, and an administrative building, and destroyed several cars. Emergency services are currently working at the scene.

“This attack is a stark reminder that anyone who remains in Donetsk region is putting their life at deadly risk,” Filashkin wrote on Telegram, urging civilians to evacuate to safer areas.

        Speculation over potential military target

Residents and local channels reported the strike hit near the Avrora store and central market. Some speculated the local military recruitment office may have been a target. Russian military Telegram channels claimed the attack targeted the Druzhkivka Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre (TCC). However, Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed this.

The strike comes amid intensified drone assaults across the Donbas, where front-line towns remain extremely dangerous for civilians.
