Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have served a notice of suspicion to the deputy commander of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade. He is accused of creating a corruption scheme in which soldiers paid for the opportunity to avoid service.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
“Since January 2024, the deputy commander has organized a mechanism for receiving money from servicemen who did not want to serve. In exchange for half of their salary, such persons could not report for service. At the same time, some of them were periodically even issued combat payments,” the statement said.
According to the investigation, at least four servicemen regularly used this scheme, causing losses to the state of more than UAH 2.2 million. At the same time, the number of participants in the scheme, according to operational information, may reach dozens of people.
The deputy commander’s illegal activities were exposed by his subordinate, who took a bag with UAH 1.5 million from the suspect and handed it over to law enforcement.
In retaliation, the deputy commander tried to blackmail his subordinate and filed documents stating that he had allegedly left the military unit with weapons without permission.
