Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich has been declared wanted in Russia, this time for spreading fake news about the Russian army. The blogger had previously been wanted for “inciting hatred.”
This was reported by Russian media.
“Arestovich has been placed on an international wanted list in a criminal case involving terrorism and fake news about the Russian army,” TASS writes.
The information about the search for Arestovich appeared after his interview with Russian TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, during which he said that he would give Russia four Ukrainian regions and Crimea, although he does not recognize them as Russian.
On October 3, 2023, Arestovich was already wanted in Russia under the article on “inciting hatred” of the Russian Criminal Code. And in May, Rosfinmonitoring added Arestovich to the list of “terrorists and extremists.”
At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovych was a freelance advisor to the Office of the President. He later left the country and began publicly criticizing Ukraine on social media, accusing the authorities of propaganda, corruption, and incompetence, and society of moral degradation and internal conflicts.
On May 1, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky approved the NSDC’s decision to expand the sanctions list, which included Arestovych. On May 9, YouTube blocked his channel and the channels of other individuals subject to sanctions.
