The situation on the border between Sumy and Kharkiv regions must be taken with maximum seriousness. This was stated by Deputy Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, Maksym Zhorin, in a post on Telegram.
According to him, Russian forces currently do not have the strength to fully occupy entire regions or regional centers. The likely objective is to push deeper into Ukrainian territory and use this as leverage in potential negotiations.
“It will be framed as if they could have taken everything, but simply chose not to,” Zhorin noted.
He emphasized that no critical buildup of enemy troops and equipment has been observed yet, but even a limited advance gives Russia new ground for propaganda—now involving two more Ukrainian regions.
Zhorin urged immediate action to prepare for possible escalation: organizing logistics, covering roads with anti-drone nets, and building modern engineering and fortification structures adapted to drone warfare.
“We cannot wait until the enemy reaches a city,” he stressed.
