President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to stop the formation of new brigades in the Defense Forces and redirect mobilized personnel to strengthen existing combat units.
This was reported by journalist Yuriy Butusov, citing his own sources.
As noted, this decision was made during a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff after hearing reports. From now on, all mobilized personnel will be sent exclusively to replenish “old” combat brigades that already have significant combat experience.
The reason for this was the problems with inexperience of commanders, poor training of personnel and insufficient technical support of newly created brigades, such as the 155th separate mechanized brigade, formed in May 2024.
The journalist also drew attention to the situation when the lack of replenishment in experienced brigades led to a decrease in their combat capability. According to him, in one of the frontline areas near Pokrovsk, the battalion of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade was forced to perform tasks with only 8 combat-ready infantrymen.
The decision should resolve the problem of low priority of manning experienced units, increasing their combat readiness and efficiency.
