Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine and Russia had agreed on a “1000 for 1000” prisoner exchange as well as a ceasefire on May 9, 10, and 11. The head of state announced this in his address.

According to Zelenskyy, in recent days there had been many signals regarding the “configuration of tomorrow in Moscow” in connection with Ukraine’s long-range strikes. The president stressed that the principle of reciprocity in Ukraine’s actions is “well known” to the Russian side.

At the same time, Zelenskyy stated that for Ukraine, the lives of prisoners of war are more important than any symbolic or political issues.

“Red Square is less important to us than the lives of Ukrainian prisoners who can be brought home,” the president said.

According to the head of state, the agreements were reached within the framework of negotiations mediated by the American side.

The president also said that he had instructed the Ukrainian team to promptly prepare everything necessary for the exchange.

Zelenskyy separately thanked U.S. President Donald Trump and his team for their “effective diplomatic involvement” and expressed hope that Washington would ensure Russia complies with the agreements.

It should be noted that a presidential decree appeared on the website of the Office of the President excluding Moscow’s Red Square from the list of targets for strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Earlier, Donald Trump announced an agreement on a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. He also reported an agreement on a “1000 for 1000” prisoner exchange.
