President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported a productive conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the sides discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and Russia’s strikes on the energy sector.
According to Zelenskyy, he congratulated Donald Trump on the success and on the Middle East deal that he “really ensured.” The President noted that if it is possible to stop the war in that region, other wars can be stopped as well, including Russia’s war against Ukraine. Zelenskyy informed his counterpart about the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and thanked him for the readiness to support Ukraine.
The heads of state discussed options to reinforce Ukraine’s air defense and the agreements being prepared in this regard. Zelenskyy stressed that “there are good options, strong ideas on how to really strengthen us.” He also underlined the need for Russia to be ready to engage in genuine diplomacy, which can be ensured through strength. “Thank you, Mr. President!” Zelenskyy concluded.
