Zelensky dismisses a number of Ukrainian ambassadors.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to dismiss several Ukrainian ambassadors. The relevant decrees were published on the website of the Presidential Office.

In particular, the following have been dismissed:

  • Andrii Taran – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia.
  • Andrii Pravednyk – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Rwanda (concurrently).
  • Sergiy Korsunsky – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan.
  • Petro Beshta – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania.
  • Vasyl Haminyan – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Indonesia and Representative of Ukraine to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (concurrently).
  • Pavlo Riabikin – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the People’s Republic of China.

In addition, the President cancelled the decree of 22 February 2024 on the appointment of Emine Dzhaparova as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to international organisations in Vienna, recognising it as ‘unimplemented’.

The reasons for such personnel decisions are not specified.

Zelenskyy also appointed new ambassadors. In particular, he signed decrees:

  • On the appointment of Yevhen Tsymbaliuk as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Office and other international organisations in Geneva
  • On the appointment of V.Hamyanin as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • On the appointment of P.Beshta as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Slovenia
  • On the appointment of F.Shandor as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Hungary
  • On the appointment of O.Nikitchenko as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania
  • On the appointment of Yurii Fediv as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of the Philippines
  • On the appointment of V.Yatsiuk as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Rwanda

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his address on 20 December that he had approved more than 30 decisions on the appointment of new ambassadors of Ukraine abroad.
