Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree appointing former Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna as Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US.

The president announced this on social media.

“The formal procedures have been completed – today I signed a decree appointing the ambassador. I have identified key tasks for updating the work of our embassy, and most importantly – to fully implement all agreements with Washington – our agreements with President Trump, and above all in the defense sector,” the president said.

Zelensky also said that the new ambassador has been tasked with promoting agreements between Ukraine and the US in the defense sector, especially the agreement on the purchase of Ukrainian drones by the US.

In a video address, the president thanked Markarova for her work as ambassador and said that he had offered her “to remain on the team and continue working for Ukraine.”
