On October 12, the Kremlin said that Russia does not support a 60-day ceasefire that would allow Ukraine to hold presidential elections. At the same time, Moscow claims it is ready to halt strikes on Ukraine specifically on election day if Kyiv decides to hold a vote.

This was reported by Clash Report.

Commenting on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement that he is ready to hold presidential elections if there is a 60-day truce, the Kremlin said that Russia allegedly seeks “a lasting peace, not a ceasefire.”

At the same time, Moscow said that Vladimir Putin is ready to order a halt to strikes on Ukraine on election day if the Ukrainian authorities decide to hold a vote.

Kremlin has yet to respond on “energy ceasefire”

Regarding the proposed “energy ceasefire,” the Kremlin said it currently has “nothing to say,” while contacts on the issue are continuing.

Moscow also spoke positively about the work of U.S. negotiators on the war in Ukraine and said it was “grateful” to them for continuing diplomatic efforts.

At the same time, the Kremlin once again criticized European countries, calling them a “party of war” and claiming that they are not interested in a peaceful settlement.

Earlier, “Glavnoe in Ukraine” reported that the “energy ceasefire” announced by Donald Trump initially envisaged a mutual halt by Ukraine and Russia to strikes on oil refineries. Russia had not agreed to the proposal at the time, while Kyiv insisted that the halt in strikes should also cover power plants and energy grids.
