Following a massive night attack by Russian troops in Ukraine, work is continuing to restore electricity and water supplies in the affected communities. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on social media.
According to the head of state, the enemy again focused its main attack on energy infrastructure, particularly in the south of the country and in the Odesa region. As a result of the attack in the Odesa region, two people were injured and more than a dozen civilian facilities were damaged across the country.
Zelensky noted that thousands of families remain without electricity after night strikes in the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions. The Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions were also shelled. In total, according to him, the Russian army used more than 450 strike drones and about 30 missiles of various types.
The President stressed that all necessary services are working to restore and stabilise the situation, and thanked the specialists involved in dealing with the aftermath of the attacks.
He also emphasised that Russia’s actions do not indicate a desire to end the war, but rather an intention to continue destroying Ukraine and inflicting pain on the civilian population. In this context, Zelensky emphasised the need for further international support for Ukraine, in particular the strengthening of air defence, the capabilities of the Ukrainian military on the front line, long-range capabilities and pressure on Russia to force it to end the war it has unleashed.
