President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced a кадрове перезавантаження in the energy sector and ordered a similar reset of supervisory boards in the defence industry.
Zelenskiy said on social media that he had discussed the changes with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. He noted that the pace of transformation is satisfactory and should ensure full transparency of governance. As a first step, the mandates of a significant part of the supervisory boards of major state-owned energy companies – including Centrenergo, the Gas Transmission System Operator, the Market Operator, Ukrainian Distribution Networks and the Energy Company of Ukraine – will be terminated.
New members of the supervisory boards are expected to be appointed in December, in line with a clear and fair procedure.
Zelenskiy also instructed the Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal, to carry out an urgent overhaul of supervisory boards in the defence sector. He stressed that supervisory boards play a key role in management and oversight of internal processes and that this control must function at one hundred per cent.
In addition, the Prime Minister was tasked with informing Ukraine’s key international partners about the measures being taken by the government to strengthen trust in the country and its institutions.
