The first Drone Deal with a country in the Americas will be concluded with Canada, which is ready to place large orders for drones. Thirty percent of the drones produced will be transferred to Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this following a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
“In Alberta, together with Prime Minister Mark Carney, we looked at the drones that will be among the first to operate under this agreement. Canada is ready to place large orders, and 30% of what is produced will be transferred to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine needs to find and scale up solutions to protect against jet-powered “Shahed” drones. According to him, Ukraine is working on this and will share its developments and solutions with partners.
“We help those who help us. We thank Canada for true partnership,” the president concluded.
According to the Office of the President, during the visit to Canada, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Mark Carney took part in a presentation of Ukrainian drones, joint Ukrainian-Canadian developments, and companies that manufacture components.
The leaders were shown the Vampire 4S unmanned system, the P1-SUN interceptor, the Shrike FPV drone, the Hor reconnaissance UAV, as well as Ukrainian Himera radios. Joint projects by Ukrainian and Canadian companies were also presented, including plans for joint production of the Hor by Airlogix and Sentinel, a prototype ground robotic system by Ai Drones UA and Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., as well as secure communications solutions by Himera and Quantropi.
Zelenskyy and Carney also reviewed the remote-control capabilities of the Ratel ground robotic system and unmanned maritime systems developed by the Ukrainian companies UFORCE and Scorpena.
A total of 21 Canadian companies took part in the presentation. They are already working with Ukrainian partners on joint technological solutions and integrating their own components into Ukrainian products. The event followed the signing of the Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation.
