The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has announced the suspension of a program for refugees from Ukraine. This is the U4U program – United for Ukraine.
This is reported on the USCIS website.
“In connection with the executive order of January 20, 2025, Securing Our Borders, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is suspending the acceptance of Form I-134A, the online request for support, and the declaration of financial support,” the agency said in a statement.
Applications have been suspended until the Service reviews all submitted requests in accordance with the requirements of the order.
On January 25, The New York Times reported that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had suspended the U4U program, and that asylum applications under this program would not be considered for now. The publication referred to a directive contained in an email sent by a senior official of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services on January 23.
