Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces shot down a Russian Mi-8 helicopter in flight using a “deep strike” drone, according to the SOF. This marks the first known instance of such a drone being used to take down a helicopter in the air.
The SOF noted that every mission requires creativity — from the technical specifications of the drone to the planning and pilot training involved. The operation, they say, left the enemy with “many questions,” the answers to which “are known only to the Mi-8 crew — and they won’t be telling.”
The Special Operations Forces emphasized that they continue to “change the rules of the game” and remain “always beyond the edge.”
