On the night of August 25, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region. The strike on two gas separation units at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant on the night of August 24 was also confirmed.

During the night, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck facilities at the Afipsky refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region. A fire at the facility has been confirmed. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
The Afipsky refinery is one of the major oil refining facilities in the Krasnodar region. Its design capacity is 6.25 million tonnes of oil per year. The plant produces, among other products, diesel fuel and gasoline components and is involved in supplying the Russian occupying forces.
In addition, the General Staff confirmed that two U-272 gas separation units at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant in Russia’s Astrakhan region were struck on the night of August 24.
The Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant is a major facility in Russia’s gas processing industry and is part of the Gazprom system. Its design capacity is up to 12 billion cubic meters of gas per year and about 7.3 million tonnes of gas condensate per year.
The facility produces marketable natural gas, stabilized gas condensate, gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, liquefied hydrocarbon gases and technical sulfur.
According to the General Staff, products from the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant are used to supply the Russian armed forces, while technical sulfur is used in the production of explosives.
