On the night of December 19, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, an X-59/69 guided missile, and 85 attack drones, including Shahed and other types. None of the drones reached their targets.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense confirmed the destruction of 45 Shahed and other types of attack drones in ten regions of Ukraine: Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv. Another 40 enemy imitator drones were “locally lost” due to active countermeasures, with no negative consequences for Ukraine.
The missile strikes damaged private and apartment buildings, as well as municipal infrastructure in Sumy and Dnipropetrovs’k regions. There were no preliminary casualties.
“No UAV hits were recorded, no information on damage or casualties was received.”
The Iskander-M ballistic missiles were fired from the temporarily occupied Crimea and Rostov region of the Russian Federation. The X-59/69 missile was launched from the airspace of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The attack drones were launched from the areas of Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo and Orel.
The attacks were repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces.
