Ukraine is acting in accordance with international law, in particular Article 51 of the UN Charter, which enshrines the right to self-defense, and has legal grounds to strike military targets on Russian territory.

This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi.

Tychy emphasized that Russia began to show concern after the strikes on targets on its territory, although it had previously ignored similar actions by Ukraine in the occupied territories. This, in his opinion, indicates that the Kremlin understands the difference between sovereign Russian territory and occupied lands.

“Russia should only blame itself for the consequences of its decision to launch aggression against Ukraine,” the spokesman concluded.

Today, Vladimir Putin recorded an address to Russians. In it, he said that Russia had fired an Oreshnik ballistic missile at Ukrainian territory.
