The Office of the President of Ukraine plans to hold talks with American partners in the near future to resume funding for humanitarian projects in Ukraine.
According to Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office, the decision to suspend funding for USAID projects came as a surprise to the Ukrainian government and the public sector.
“But I’m sure that we will stabilize everything in the humanitarian sector. In the near future, we will begin substantive consultations with our American partners to continue funding humanitarian response projects in Ukraine as soon as possible,” said Vereshchuk.
Earlier it became known that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has suspended its assistance programs and plans to review them within 90 days.
USAID supports 158 countries around the world by investing in humanitarian, educational, cultural, and infrastructure projects. In 2024, the organization’s budget was $22 billion. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the agency has provided more than $2.6 billion in humanitarian aid, $5 billion in development assistance, and another $30 billion in direct budget support.
