Ukrainian defence forces are repelling large-scale Russian attacks along several fronts, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its 4:00 p.m. situation report on 8 June. Since the start of the day, at least 75 combat engagements have taken place.
The fiercest fighting is reported on the Pokrovsk front, where Russian forces launched 25 assault attempts near the settlements of Myroliubivka, Malynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, and Orikhove, as well as toward the villages of Myrne, Mykolaivka, Novosergiivka and Oleksiivka. Ukrainian troops repelled 24 of these assaults; one battle is ongoing.
On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian units have repelled nine Russian attacks near Hrekivka, Novyi Myr, Ridkodub, Zelena Dolyna and in the direction of Cherneshchyna and Torske. Three clashes remain active.
In the Toretsk area, Russian troops launched eight attacks near Dachne, Dyliivka, Toretsk and toward Yablunivka. One engagement is still ongoing.
Near Kupiansk, four separate assaults were launched on Ukrainian positions near Stepova Novoselivka. Three were repelled, while one battle is still underway.
On the Novopavlivka front, Ukrainian forces repelled seven Russian attacks near Bahatyr, Odradne, Rivnopil, Vilne Pole, and toward the areas of Zaporizhzhia, Voskresenka and Shevchenko. One clash is still ongoing. Russian aircraft struck the village of Olhivske.
On the Huliaipole front, Ukrainian forces stopped two Russian attempts to advance near Malynivka, with another battle still underway. Airstrikes also hit Huliaipole, Malynivka and Zaliznychne.
On the Orikhiv axis, two Russian assaults toward Novoandriivka and Pavlivka were successfully repelled.
In the Prydniprovske sector, Russian troops made two failed attempts to advance.
Meanwhile, on the Kursk axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 attacks. The Russian military launched 15 airstrikes, dropped 28 guided bombs, and carried out 106 artillery shellings throughout the day.
Northern border areas of Ukraine continue to suffer from cross-border shelling originating from Russian territory. At least 15 settlements in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions came under fire, including Hirsk, Kucherivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Petrushivka, Uhroiydy, and Bobylivka.
No significant changes were reported on other sections of the front.
