Ukraine has provided the US with a revised version of the peace plan, which continues to evolve during the negotiations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the document is not final and requires further coordination, particularly on territorial issues.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on December 11, according to Ukrinform.
“This version, which we submitted to the American team yesterday, is our vision. But there are also European issues in the plan, and therefore there is also a European vision. This is not a final plan. It is a response to what we have received, under the conditions that already existed before. The first plan has already been edited — from 28 points, the plan has been reduced to 20 points. That is, this plan is constantly being worked on and edited. And this is an ongoing process that continues now,” Zelenskyy explained.
This plan is not a single document, but a set of documents that depend on the form in which the basic 20-point plan will be adopted.
“It contains several things, such as post-war economy and recovery, security guarantees, and other things that are set out in the basic document, and then, based on one or another point that needs to be detailed, there will be a separate document. In other words, the 20 points are the foundation, a conditional framework, on the basis of which there will be a corresponding number of documents,” the president emphasized.
There are positions on which questions remain, particularly regarding territories.
“It is still difficult to say what the final documents will look like. The Russians want the entire Donbas, but we, of course, do not accept this. And the Americans are looking for some kind of format. They discussed the issue of a ‘free economic zone’. The Americans call it that, and the Russian Federation calls it a ‘demilitarized zone’,” Zelenskyy explained.
