Former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna was given a preventive measure in the form of bail set at UAH 6 million. The decision was made as part of an illicit enrichment case.

In addition to posting bail of UAH 6 million, the court ordered Stefanishyna not to communicate with her friend Tetiana Mazurenko and a number of former subordinates. According to investigators, in June-July 2024 Stefanishyna instructed Mazurenko to purchase two apartments in the Faina Taun residential complex.
After the hearing, Stefanishyna told journalists that she and members of her family were receiving threats. The former official also said she had further work plans, but they were not related to public service.
Prosecutors had asked the court to set bail for Stefanishyna at UAH 15 million. Stefanishyna herself said she would be unable to provide for her family if the court set bail at the amount requested by the prosecution.
The new suspicion against Stefanishyna became known on August 5. According to the prosecutor, the case concerns three episodes: one episode of illicit enrichment and two episodes of failure to declare property.
The prosecution also cited the risks that the suspect could evade the court, influence witnesses — her friend and subordinates — and influence three selection commissions and the results of appointments, which, according to investigators, could obstruct the criminal proceedings.
Stefanishyna said that she «had nothing to hide and still has nothing to hide» and that she viewed the procedural actions «calmly and without unnecessary emotion».
