Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said during a national TV marathon that Russian forces struck the city’s energy facilities on the night of October 6, leaving three districts without electricity.
According to Terekhov, 25 Shahed drones were launched at the city, some of which hit a transformer substation supplying several neighborhoods. The substation caught fire, resulting in a large-scale power outage affecting three districts.
As of the time of his interview, about 10,000 customers remained without electricity. Utility crews and specialists from Kharkivoblenergo worked throughout the night and have already partially restored power in affected areas.
The mayor also noted that in recent weeks, Russian strikes have increasingly targeted critical infrastructure — energy networks, substations, and essential utilities — which greatly worsens the impact of attacks and increases risks for residents.
