A new unit, the 8th Air Assault Corps, has been formed as part of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The information was published on the employment website Work.ua, which posted an announcement about the search for a graphic designer for the new corps.

‘The 8th Air Assault Corps is a new unit within the Air Assault Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,’ the website says.

The corps consists of five brigades:

  • 46th separate airmobile brigade
  • 71st separate ranger brigade
  • 80th separate airborne assault brigade
  • 95th separate air assault brigade
  • 82nd separate air assault brigade

Earlier it was reported that the new corps could be formed on the basis of the 82nd Brigade, with Dmytro Voloshyn as its commander.

The plans for the final transition of the Armed Forces to the corps system were announced in November 2024. And in early February 2025, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces announced the start of measures to transition the army to a corps structure.

Army corps emerged with the advent of mass armies, when combat operations became more spatially expansive and the management of military formations with numerous combatants and diverse weapons became more difficult. The creation of army corps was also driven by the need to have formations capable of solving combat tasks on an independent operational direction.
