In Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, an unidentified man opened fire on people. Five people are confirmed dead and ten injured; the attacker was killed during a special forces assault.
This was reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
According to him, a 58-year-old man born in Moscow opened fire on civilians, killing four people. He then barricaded himself inside a supermarket and took hostages. During the спецоперации, the attacker was killed, and the death of one more person inside the building was confirmed.
Preliminary information indicates that the attacker used an automatic weapon. At the same time, a fire broke out in the apartment where he was registered.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that, as of now, five people are confirmed dead. Ten others have been hospitalized with injuries and trauma and are receiving necessary medical care. Four hostages were rescued.
Investigators from the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine are working at the scene. The circumstances of the tragedy are being established, and the investigation is ongoing.
“I instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs and the head of the National Police of Ukraine to provide the public with all verified information in this case,” Zelenskyy said.
