Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement that the situation on the front line remains tense in many areas. This was reported to him by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky.
According to the president, by midday on 27 April, there had been almost 70 Russian assaults on Ukrainian positions. The most intense fighting continues in the Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk, Lyman and Kursk areas.
At the same time, Ukrainian troops continue to take active action in designated areas of the Kursk and Belgorod regions. Zelensky noted the effective actions of the 3rd Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine in the Pokrovsk direction, as well as the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces. He also expressed his gratitude to the 225th and 425th separate assault regiments, the 47th separate mechanised brigade and the 95th separate airborne assault brigade.
The President emphasised that Ukraine continues to fight for its independence and land. He noted that the current international pressure on Russia is insufficient to end the war: for almost 50 days, Russia has ignored the US proposal for a complete ceasefire, which Ukraine supported on 11 March.
‘More tangible pressure on Russia is needed to give real diplomacy more opportunities,’ Zelensky said, thanking all international partners who support Ukraine.
