The Security Service of Ukraine has detained and served a notice of suspicion to a chemist who was manufacturing incendiary devices to set fire to military vehicles in Dnipro.

This was reported by the SBU.

According to the investigation, the suspect was a 48-year-old locksmith at a company in Dnipro who had knowledge of chemistry. He came to the attention of Russian special services because of his activity in pro-Russian Telegram channels, where he supported Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Initially, his main task was to identify the coordinates of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Dnipro region and record the consequences of the city’s shelling.

“Subsequently, the FSB supervisor gave him a new task: to organize a series of arsons of the Defense Forces’ vehicles and Ukrzaliznytsia facilities,” the SBU said.

According to the instructions, the man made an incendiary device with a flammable mixture, a detonator and a remote control module. He planned to place it under an Armed Forces vehicle and activate it remotely.

He was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason under martial law), which provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
