President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s Defense Forces, Security Service and intelligence agencies carried out a large-scale attack on the Moscow region, striking targets more than 500 kilometers away. According to him, Ukrainian long-range strikes are now capable of penetrating Russia’s densest air defense systems.

Zelenskyy made the remarks during his evening address.

The president described the Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory as “long-range sanctions” for Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Today, the Defense Forces of Ukraine, our Security Service and our intelligence worked on the Moscow region on a very large scale. It was a good wave of our deep strikes — we are ensuring this capability for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that the targets were located more than 500 kilometers away and that the Moscow region is “the most saturated with Russian air defense systems.”

“They protect their seat of power the most. But Ukrainian long-range capabilities are already overcoming this,” the president added.

Zelenskyy also said Russia should “think about its oil refineries, oil facilities and enterprises” instead of “ruining the lives of other nations.”

The president separately noted that Ukrainian forces also struck targets in temporarily occupied territories, including Crimea.

“The war is quite predictably returning to its ‘home harbor,’ and this is a clear signal that no one should mess with Ukraine or wage an unjust war of aggression against another people,” he said.

Zelenskyy linked the statement to the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression, noting that he and First Lady Olena Zelenska honored victims of Soviet terror in Bykivnia earlier in the day.

The president also said the balance of actions on the battlefield is changing.

“Today’s activity indicators show that our active operations over the past 24 hours exceeded Russia’s. This is a very serious result,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that Ukraine will continue increasing supplies of drones, robotic systems, ammunition and other resources for the military.

Zelenskyy also announced upcoming contacts with European partners and further communication with the United States, saying “important interstate political results” are currently being prepared.
