Russia launched a new massive attack on Ukraine’s energy and gas transportation infrastructure on the night of August 26-27. Hits were recorded in six regions: Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
In particular, equipment at a key substation in Sumy was damaged, leaving a significant part of the city and industrial consumers without power.
In Poltava region, the enemy deliberately attacked gas transportation system facilities, causing significant damage. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and emergency and rescue services are working on site. Energy and gas companies are working to restore supply.
The Ministry of Energy called the strikes another act of energy terrorism by Russia on the eve of the heating season.
