Russia has intensified its assaults along multiple sectors of the front line in Ukraine, with the Ukrainian General Staff reporting 69 combat clashes since the beginning of the day on Saturday.
According to a 4pm update from Ukraine’s military, border areas in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions once again came under artillery fire from Russian territory. The town of Shostka in Sumy was hit by a Russian airstrike.
Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks on the Northern–Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, despite Russia launching three airstrikes and firing over 160 times, including two barrages from multiple-launch rocket systems. Russian forces also dropped six guided aerial bombs.
On the Southern–Slobozhansky axis, Russian troops attacked near Starytsia and the city of Vovchansk. Ukrainian defenders pushed back all three assaults.
Fighting was also reported near Radkivka, Kupiansk, and Zahryzove on the Kupiansk front. On the Lyman axis, Russian troops launched 11 attacks near settlements including Novyi Myr, Zelenyi Hai, Hrekivka, Shandryholove, Kolodiazi, Karpivka, and Torske. Ukrainian forces repelled nine of them, with two battles still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces attempted a single unsuccessful assault. A lone attack was also reported near Toretsk on the Toretsk front.
The fiercest clashes were recorded in the Pokrovsk sector, where Russian troops attempted to advance 35 times throughout the day in areas including Poltavka, Volodymyrivka, Novotoretske, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Novoukrainka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Udachne, Kotlyne, Novopavlivka, Oleksiivka, and towards Novopidhorodne. Ukraine’s defenders repelled 27 of these assaults, while eight engagements were still ongoing at the time of reporting.
On the Novopavlivka front, two Russian attacks near Temyrivka led to active fighting, which was still underway by afternoon. Airstrikes were recorded over Bilohiria on the Huliaipole axis.
Russian forces launched two attacks near Kamianske on the Orikhiv front, with one battle still in progress. Meanwhile, on the Dnipro River’s left bank, Ukrainian forces repelled four Russian assaults, and the village of Odradokamianka was hit by an airstrike.
No significant changes were reported on other parts of the frontline, the General Staff said.
