Ukraine’s positions in the Donetsk region are to be strengthened by two revamped groupings led by Denys Prokopenko and Andrii Biletsky. The authorities are also preparing additional decisions on unmanned ground systems, mid-range strikes and personnel changes.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a social media post.
According to him, the next steps were agreed together with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, the General Staff and Defence Minister Khmara.
Zelensky said the first decision was to reinforce Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region with two revamped groupings.
The formations will be commanded by Hero of Ukraine Denys Prokopenko and Hero of Ukraine Andrii Biletsky. The president also said that he had awarded Biletsky the Gold Star of the Hero of Ukraine that day.
Separately, Zelensky heard a report from the commander of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces, General Oleh Apostol, and thanked the Air Assault Forces troops for their service.
Another set of decisions concerns the Zaporizhzhia direction. According to the president, following talks with commanders there, the number of necessary capabilities is to be increased.
In particular, this concerns unmanned ground systems. Zelensky said decisions are needed to increase both their production and procurement.
The president also announced decisions aimed at taking a more systematic approach to mid-range strikes.
In addition, Zelensky said that he and the defence minister and the Commander-in-Chief had agreed on the necessary personnel decisions.
“This is important,” he stressed.
