According to the 7th Air Assault Corps, Russian forces have redeployed experienced marine units to the Pokrovsk area and recently shifted to operating in small groups. Their aim is to infiltrate the city without direct clashes with Ukrainian forward positions, get closer to drone and mortar operators, disperse defensive forces, and expand the “gray zone.” The corps reported this in a statement.
At the same time, the enemy has intensified assaults on the flanks using armored vehicles and motorized units, seeking to cut logistics routes and create the threat of encircling the Pokrovsk agglomeration. Meanwhile, the number of airstrikes on front-line positions has decreased, but attacks on rear civilian targets have increased. By August, nearly all residential housing in Pokrovsk had been destroyed.
Available intelligence indicates that Russia plans to use its grouping in Donetsk region for a so-called “decisive breakthrough,” involving large numbers of personnel and equipment. The enemy’s main objective remains the capture of the Pokrovsk-Kramatorsk-Sloviansk agglomeration.
The 7th Corps stresses that it understands the enemy’s intentions, is adapting its defensive tactics, restructuring logistics, and taking measures to block further Russian advances. Units in the area of responsibility continue to destroy enemy equipment and manpower.
