Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv overnight on August 1. Nine people were killed and another 28 residents of the capital were injured, including four children.
The attack was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to the mayor, 17 injured people remain in Kyiv hospitals. The others received outpatient treatment or medical assistance at the sites of the strikes.
Fires and damage were reported in at least five districts of Kyiv.
In the Solomianskyi district, a five-story residential building was partially destroyed and caught fire. Rescuers evacuated 35 people from the upper floors. Cars caught fire in a parking lot at another location. Two people were killed and eight others injured in the district, including two children.
In the Darnytskyi district, fires and structural damage were reported at administrative and non-residential buildings. Residential buildings and vehicles were also damaged, while a crater was found in a public garden. According to preliminary figures, seven people were killed and 14 injured in the district, including two children.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a non-residential building, ambulances and a facility on the grounds of a film studio caught fire. One person was reported injured.
A shop was damaged in the Dniprovskyi district, while four private homes and several outbuildings were damaged in the Pecherskyi district.
The State Emergency Service said 105 people had been rescued during emergency operations. Rescue crews and other emergency services continue to work at the sites of the Russian strikes.
Damage was also reported in the Kyiv region. Two people were injured in the Bucha district, where a fire broke out at an industrial facility.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the number of people injured in the Russian ballistic missile attack had risen to more than 30, including four children. Nine people were killed.
Seventeen injured people remain in hospital, where they are receiving the necessary medical care. Emergency crews continue to deal with the aftermath of the strike.
According to Klitschko, residential and non-residential buildings were damaged and fires broke out in five districts of the capital.
Emergency work is also continuing at the Kyivmedspetstrans municipal organization, which was hit twice. According to preliminary information, four of its buildings were partially destroyed and other premises were damaged. No casualties were reported there.
Five ambulances were completely destroyed by fire, while another 20 vehicles serving Kyiv’s healthcare facilities sustained significant damage.
