Russian forces are gradually increasing the use of jet-powered attack drones in their large-scale strikes against Ukraine and are preparing to deploy new high-speed Geran-4 drones. This was stated by Ukrainian Defense Ministry adviser Serhii Beskrestnov, known by the call sign “Flash,” during the United News telethon.

According to Beskrestnov, the number of jet-powered Shahed-type attack drones used in Russian assaults continues to grow. While the process is gradual, Ukrainian military officials have already identified the trend and are preparing for it.

At present, the Russian military is actively using Geran-3 drones for attacks. Beskrestnov noted that these drones can reach speeds of around 300 kilometers per hour, but Ukraine’s air defense forces have already learned how to counter them effectively.

“Russians are currently using the Geran-3, and we are successfully dealing with it. But in the future they will try to use the Geran-4. They hope it will be difficult for us to engage targets flying at speeds of 500 km/h,” the defense adviser said.

According to him, the new drone modification will be capable of reaching speeds between 400 and 500 kilometers per hour.

At the same time, Beskrestnov stressed that Ukrainian forces clearly understand Russia’s plans, closely monitor the development of Russian technologies, and are already working on countermeasures to address the new threat.
