Russian dictator Vladimir Putin called the proposal to transfer Russian assets frozen in Europe to Ukraine ‘robbery.’

Putin said this at a press conference on 19 December.

“This is robbery. But why can’t it be done? Because the consequences could be dire for the robbers. First, it’s not easy to do. They didn’t just announce that they would steal and take away, but one of the ideas was to issue a reparations loan secured by our assets. But what does it mean to issue a loan? It has consequences for the budget of every country,‘ said the dictator.

According to Putin, among the ’more serious” consequences for those who try to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine are damage to their image and undermining trust in the Eurozone.

The dictator promised that if its assets are seized, Russia will defend itself in courts, in a jurisdiction that is independent of political decisions, and that sooner or later Europe will have to give back what it ‘steals’ from the Russian Federation’s assets.
