Punch, the orphaned baby monkey from Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, who had been inseparable from his stuffed toy for a long time, has found a girlfriend. The new monkey’s coloring resembles that very “stuffed toy mom” with whom he used to spend all his time.

Punch was born last July and was left without a mother, after which he was raised by humans. Zoo staff suspect that the female abandoned the baby due to the intense heat during childbirth.

Earlier this year, Punch was moved to an enclosure with other animals, but the older Japanese macaques did not accept him. During this time, he was often seen with a stuffed orangutan toy, which he constantly carried with him, even though it was bigger than he was. The toy effectively served as a substitute for his mother.

Later, another little monkey appeared in the same enclosure, and Punch began spending time with her. They play together, hug, and sit side by side. In terms of color, his new friend vaguely resembles that very same stuffed toy that Punch used to never part with.
