A fire broke out overnight on November 7 at the Proton-Elektrotex plant in the Russian city of Oryol, which manufactures electronic components for industrial and specialized equipment. The governor of Oryol region confirmed that production facilities at a local enterprise had been damaged following a missile attack but did not identify the plant.

ASTRA reported the incident, citing an OSINT analysis of eyewitness footage.

According to the outlet, an OSINT analyst determined that the fire broke out at the Proton-Elektrotex JSC facility. A missile threat alert had been issued in Oryol region overnight.

Regional Governor Andrey Klychkov said that production facilities at an enterprise in Oryol’s Sovetsky district were “partially damaged” during what he described as the interception of a large-scale Ukrainian missile attack.

According to Klychkov, emergency services are working at the scene. However, he did not name the affected enterprise or provide information about possible casualties.

Proton-Elektrotex JSC specializes in manufacturing semiconductor devices, LEDs and electronic components for industrial and specialized equipment.

According to Ukrainian sources, the company’s products are used in Russian weapons systems, including Iskander-M missiles and Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun systems.

The plant has been targeted several times before. On October 23, strikes and a major fire at the facility killed five people and injured another 19.
