Oil depot on fire in Russia’s Saratov region after drone attack

On the night of January 8, explosions occurred near the town of Engels in Saratov region, which was followed by a massive fire at the oil depot.

The governor of the region, Roman Busargin, said that Russian air defense forces had allegedly shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle, and its wreckage fell on an industrial facility in the city.

According to social media reports, the damage was done to the Rosreserve’s Kombinat Kristall oil depot, which is likely used to store aviation fuel. This fuel is supplied to the Engels-2 air base, where Russia’s strategic bombers are based.
