North Korea has ratified a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with Russia, the KCNA reported.

The corresponding decree was signed on November 11, 2024 by the “head of state affairs of the DPRK” (such position is held by Kim Jong-un), the report said.

The treaty will enter into force from the moment of exchange of instruments of ratification.

The treaty “on comprehensive strategic partnership” between Russia and the DPRK was signed on June 19, 2024 during Vladimir Putin’s visit to Pyongyang. The State Duma ratified it on October 24.

Among other things, the treaty between Russia and the DPRK reportedly provides for the creation of a military alliance.  The mass media reported that the treaty contained a secret clause that allowed the DPRK to send its soldiers to the war against Ukraine.
