According to the optimistic scenario, in April-May this year, Lviv International Airport named after King Danylo Halytskyi may be opened for air flights. This was reported to Vysokyi Zamok by the airport’s general manager, Tetiana Romanovska.
Other possible dates for the opening of the sky include summer.
According to Romanovska, five to seven airlines are ready to operate in Lviv (within a month of the terminal’s launch). The government is also considering the opening of another airport in western Ukraine – Uzhhorod.
‘Wizzair, Air Baltic, Turkish Airlines, Sky Up, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT are ready to fly from Lviv,’ said Tetyana Romanovska. – ‘We are currently considering the resumption of regular flights from Lviv. Charter flights are likely to be brought back by Sky Up Airlines. They have a good network of routes in Europe. They are ready to operate the same routes from Lviv. Or from another Ukrainian city. This year, the airline’s representatives came to us with communication and conducted their audits. Wizzair representatives conducted their audit last year. They conduct a preliminary analysis, and when the decision to open the skies is made, they come to work with us within three to four days.’
