Law enforcement officers have found the gun used to shoot Ukrainian MP Andriy Parubiy in Lviv. Investigators have also obtained evidence of a number of other crimes committed by the suspect in the MP’s murder.

This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko.

The weapon used to kill Parubiy was found and seized by law enforcement officers during the investigation. The suspect hid the pistol in a specially equipped “cache.”

“Investigators also obtained new evidence indicating that the suspect committed not only intentional murder, but also a number of serious crimes against the foundations of Ukraine’s national security,” the prosecutor general said.

The suspect’s actions were additionally classified under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason) and Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification and glorification of armed aggression by the Russian Federation).

The investigation established that the suspect acted in favor of the Russian special services under martial law: he passed on information to the Russians about the location and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and provided intelligence materials for the coordination of sabotage activities.

There is also documented evidence of public justification of the Russian Federation’s aggression, glorification of the actions of the aggressor state, and denial of the fact of the war that began in 2014.
We remind you that the suspect was previously charged with crimes under Part 1 of Article 263 and Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“He had been purposefully preparing for the murder for a long time – gathering information about the routes and whereabouts of the MP, obtaining a firearm from his handlers in Russia, and on August 30, he cold-bloodedly fired eight shots at Andriy Parubiy, killing the MP on the spot,” Kravchenko wrote.

The murder of the MP is being investigated by the prosecutor’s office, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Police.
