No signs of violent death were found on the body, apart from injuries consistent with a fall from height.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the classification “suicide.”

To verify the actions of RTCC personnel, the materials have been forwarded to the State Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, Kharkiv-based social media accounts reported suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a cyclist who had been detained by the RTCC.

According to his friends from the cycling community, Oleksii — described as a “convinced pacifist” — died on May 13.

He had reportedly been detained twice by representatives of the Shevchenkivskyi District RTCC.

The first incident occurred on May 8 or 9, during which, according to eyewitnesses, Oleksii was severely beaten. He resisted, and afterwards, began receiving threats. He was released but was allegedly abducted again on May 10.

Three days later, on May 13, his relatives were summoned to identify the body. According to the official version, he died by suicide. However, his loved ones claim that the head injuries were so severe that the funeral had to be held with a closed casket.

Reports also state that a warrantless search was conducted at the deceased’s home, and his electronic devices were seized. His family and friends insist that he had been planning a cycling trip and had shown no signs of suicidal intent.
