On August 13, a jet-powered Shahed struck a passenger train in the Odesa region. The driver and his assistant were killed, while 340 passengers and the train crew were evacuated.

The company said that despite the threat, the locomotive crew continued driving the train so that passengers could safely leave the carriages.
“Our colleagues carried out their work until the very end and did everything they could to protect the people they were responsible for,” the statement said.
Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the company’s board, clarified that the UAV threat had been detected in advance, after which the monitoring team gave an order to stop, while the train was entering a station for the safe evacuation of passengers.
“A sudden maneuver by the jet-powered Shahed means only a matter of minutes, and the locomotive crew did not have enough time to bring the train to a complete stop and evacuate themselves,” Pertsovskyi wrote.
All 340 passengers and the train crew were evacuated to a safe place. None of them were injured.
Buses to Odesa were arranged for the passengers.
