Next year, Ireland plans to significantly increase funding for programs supporting Ukrainian refugees and asylum seekers.

        This was reported by MSN.

According to budget documents, total spending on refugee assistance in Ireland in 2026 will exceed €2 billion, one of the highest figures in the last ten years.

About €438 million is earmarked for social payments to more than 50,000 Ukrainians, including single parents, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.

The government has also confirmed that in 2026 it will launch a “significant reform” of the system for processing applications for international protection as part of the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. The reform is intended to speed up the processing of cases and will be accompanied by additional investments in digitalization.

Meanwhile, a number of other countries are reducing their support for Ukrainian refugees. In particular, on December 3, the Latvian Parliament adopted amendments to the law providing for the cancellation of some payments, including one-time employment assistance and support for the self-employed.

Earlier, it was also reported that Ukrainians in Scotland could lose their housing after the cancellation of monthly payments to local residents who took refugees into their homes.
