        Interrogated and executed: occupiers shot a captured Ukrainian defender in Donetsk region

        In Donetsk region, Russian troops captured a Ukrainian defender. After the interrogation, one of the occupiers ordered his execution, while another shot the prisoner.

        This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

        According to the investigation, on July 13 at 2:42 p.m., near the village of Yalta in the Komar rural community, Russian troops captured a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

        After the interrogation, one of the occupiers gave the order to execute the Ukrainian defender. Another Russian serviceman shot the prisoner with a firearm.

        Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into a war crime that resulted in a person’s death. The case is being investigated under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

        “Urgent investigative and search measures are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify the Russian servicemen involved in committing this crime,” the statement reads.
