The IAEA reports that three operating Ukrainian nuclear power plants have almost fully returned to normal electricity generation after last week’s Russian attacks on the power grid. All high-voltage transmission lines damaged in the strikes have already been restored.

The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that this week electricity production at the Khmelnytskyy, Rivne and South Ukraine nuclear power plants has largely returned to normal. Following last week’s military attacks on the grid, almost all power units are again running at full capacity, with only one unit remaining at reduced power.

The agency also emphasized that all high-voltage transmission lines lost during the attacks have been fully restored, allowing the plants to stabilize their operations.

Separately, the IAEA reported sending additional experts to the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant to assess the New Safe Confinement, which was damaged in the February drone strike. The team is inspecting the structure, evaluating risks and discussing plans to restore its functionality.

At the Zaporizhzhya NPP, IAEA observers continue to report daily military activity near the plant but proceed with walkdowns and safety assessments. The agency also delivered a new shipment of assistance to Ukraine — 185 deliveries in total — supported by the European Union, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.
